Bhanyada Swarm

Creature 11 (uncommon) — aberration, swarm

Pre-Remaster content. May include legacy alignment.

FlankerWeaverLANDSUBTERRANEANaberration

Bhanyadas without much cohesion between their fleshy components roil around one another in a ghastly swarm of malodorous gobs of flesh. Gobbets of flesh left behind from an untidy meal or a surgical procedure typically rot away if left where they lie, but when steeped in areas of powerful lingering magic or eldritch radiation, these bits of loose tissue might achieve some measure of animation, perhaps sprouting thick limbs to move about or tiny, multifaceted eyes to see. Abilities

All-Around Vision — This monster can see in all directions simultaneously and therefore can't be flanked.
Swarm Mind — This monster doesn't have a single mind (typically because it's a swarm of smaller creatures), and is immune to mental effects that target only a specific number of creatures. It is still subject to mental effects that affect all creatures in an area.
Extraneous FleshFrequency three times per day

Trigger A Strike scores a critical hit on the bhanyada swarm

Effect A critical hit might simply sever a component chunk that the bhanyada can lose without much harm. The bhanyada swarm attempts a DC 11 Flat. On a success, it doesn't take any extra damage from the critical hit (although it takes other effects normally, such as critical specialization effects).
Odor of Rot (aura, olfactory) — 10 feet. Creatures other than aberrations that enter or start their turn in the bhanyada's aura must succeed at a DC 27 Fortitude save or become Sickened 1 (Sickened 2 on a critical failure). A creature that succeeds at its save is temporarily immune for 1 minute.
Swarming Bites — Each enemy in the bhanyada swarm's space takes 2d6 bludgeoning damage (DC 30 Reflex). On a failed save, a creature is also Slowed 1 for 1 round.

WORKS WELL WITH

SniperLANDA Sniper picks off foes hindered by the swarm's Sickened and Slowed debuffs without needing to enter its occupied space.
CrasherLANDA Crasher pushes enemies into the swarm's space, forcing them to endure Swarming Bites and the Sickening aura.
WeaverLANDA Weaver's forced movement compounds the Slow from Swarming Bites, locking enemies in place to take repeated damage.

PUNISHES

✖ clumping✖ melee reliance✖ precision damage
Multiple Flankers competing for the same enemy spaces dilute the swarm's area-denial advantage and leave no anchored front line.
