Sometimes, when a troll is regenerating from life-threatening wounds inflicted by necromancy or void energy, the vile energy takes hold in the troll's supernaturally resilient regeneration. The force that should have killed the troll instead becomes a part of the troll's strange physiology. These trolls are not undead, but the force inside them eats at their bodies and souls, turning them into shrunken mockeries of their former selves. Abilities

Regeneration 5 (Deactivated by Acid, Fire, or Vitality) — This monster regains the listed number of Hit Points each round at the beginning of its turn. Its Dying condition never increases beyond Dying 3 as long as its regeneration is active. However, if it takes damage of a type listed in the regeneration entry, its regeneration deactivates until the end of its next turn. Deactivate the regeneration before applying any damage of a listed type, since that damage might kill the monster by bringing it to Dying 4.
Attack of Opportunity
Death Feast (manipulate) —
Grave Breath (death, occult, void) —
Rend — Claw

A Rend entry lists a Strike the monster has.

Requirements The monster hit the same enemy with two consecutive Strikes of the listed type in the same round.

Effect The monster automatically deals that Strike's damage again to the enemy.

WORKS WELL WITH

SniperLAND / SUBTERRANEANA ranged striker can apply fire damage from range to shut off this brute's Regeneration while it is busy in melee.
SnareLAND / SUBTERRANEANA controller keeps targets adjacent long enough for this brute's Reactive Strike and rending claws to stack up damage.
WeaverLAND / SUBTERRANEANA caster can supply the fire or vitality damage needed to suppress Regeneration, since this brute's own kit lacks that damage type.

PUNISHES

✖ non-fire or acid damage✖ melee reliance✖ standing adjacent
Avoid pairing with another regenerating brute; without a fire or acid source in the encounter both become a drawn-out attrition fight.
